On Wednesday, April 3, U.S. Ambassador Steven C. Bondy and Ms. Meghan Bondy celebrated the holy month of Ramadan by hosting an Iftar for young Bahrainis who have participated in U.S. Embassy student exchange, education and leadership programs. This event celebrated the broad and deep friendship between the United States and Bahrain.
Ambassador Bondy congratulated the attendees for their energy, commitment and success in navigating the rigorous selection process, saying it was a mark of their impressive body of work, creativity and professionalism. He expressed pride in seeing so many talented young Bahrainis studying in the United States and thanked them for choosing to partner with the Embassy. Most important, he added, was that they returned to Bahrain after their programs to utilize their new skills and qualifications for the betterment of their fellow citizens. He emphasized that the Embassy’s exchange and education programs were “a mark of faith, and investment, in you and in the future of Bahrain.”
In his remarks, Ambassador Bondy said, “Ramadan is special, as we see people honoring the holy month with many gatherings and majalis. The Embassy is proud of its Youth Iftar tradition because it is an opportunity to share an evening with the broader family of our embassy program alumni. I always enjoy the opportunity to chat with energetic and engaged young people. They show us that Bahrain’s future is very bright.”
