Resumption of American Citizen Services Appointments

September 24, 2020

Location: Bahrain

The Embassy is now accommodating a limited number of notary appointments in addition to the full range of passport services and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBAs).  Please note appointments are still limited to maximize social distancing.  Due to limited staffing and to maximize social distancing, emergency appointment requests will only be accommodated for matters of life or death or confirmed travel within the next 72 hours.

Notary and Minor Passport Services:

For passport services requiring an appointment and notary services, please schedule an appointment directly through our website.  Note there may be significant wait times for these services.  If you have emergency travel in the next 72 hours and you require a passport, please email ManamaConsular@state.gov.  Routine passport and notary appointment requests will no longer be scheduled over email and must be done online.

Consular Report of Birth Abroad:

To request a CRBA appointment please email ManamaConsular@state.gov with the subject line “CRBA APPOINTMENT REQUEST.”

Adult Passport Renewals:

If you have been issued a U.S. passport, including an Official (maroon) passport, after the age of 16, most likely you are eligible to renew your passport without an appointment using our Consular Dropbox. To maximize social distancing, we strongly encourage all adults who are eligible to use the Consular Dropbox to do so. Please see our recent announcement for detailed instructions.  The current turnaround time for your new passport is approximately two weeks.

Emergency Services:

If you are a U.S. citizen with an emergency situation requiring an in-person appointment, please email ManamaConsular@state.gov with the subject line “EMERGENCY SERVICE REQUEST” and provide a detailed description of your request.
