As part of Discover America Week 2020, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Margaret Nardi visited WestPoint Homes’ production plant inAl-Mazara’a Industrial Parkto highlight US manufacturing technology and the success story of the company’s investments in Bahrain. WestPoint Home re-tooled one of its production lines to produce life-saving face masks and donated many of them to the public as part of its efforts to mitigate the repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic.
She was received by WestPoint Home Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jonathan Witmer, Chief Operating Officer Steve Burns, and Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Storie,at the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic and Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Sheikh Hamad Bin Salman Al-Khalifa.
During her tour, CDA Nardi remarked, “WestPoint Homes is a case-study for how a company can come into another country and become part of the community, so that it’s not just there to use the resources and then export, but to contribute something necessary that benefits both.”
The Chargé also highlighted the essential shipping services UPS, a U.S.-company, has provided to customers across the globe since the onset of the pandemic. A UPS van was on display to reinforce the company’s commitment to moving the world forward by delivering what matters.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Salman Al-Khalifa expressed his pleasure with the ministry’s participation in the “Explore America Week 2020” event and said “West Point Homes is a wonderful example of the continuous cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America in the Manufacturing field. West Point Homes is one of the companies benefiting from the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries by exporting their products to the American market”.
Sheikh Hamad also stressed during the meeting the ministry’s keenness and support for foreign investments at the Industrial field as this area constitutes economic importance through its contribution to the GDP.
