On behalf of President Obama, the U.S. Embassy, and the people of the United States of America, I congratulate the people and government of Bahrain as you commemorate the Kingdom’s 44th National Day. This important occasion is an opportunity to recognize the history and achievements of the Bahraini people, as well as the common interests and values shared between the United States and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
We thank His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for supporting and advancing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s friendship with the United States of America. We also express our deep appreciation to His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and gratefully acknowledge their dedication to building a strong and mutually beneficial partnership. The United States values greatly our strong strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain, which encompasses fields as diverse as economy and education, security and culture. In fact, in 2016 we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Bahrain-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, the first such agreement the United States signed with a GCC country and an important symbol of our commitment to Bahraini-U.S. friendship and cooperation.
We look forward to working closely with the Government of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty the King, and to working with all Bahrainis to assure a prosperous, secure, and peaceful future for our nations.
Congratulations and best wishes on the 44th anniversary of Bahrain’s independence.
