Twelfth Anniversary of the American Corner in Isa Cultural Center

The American Embassy and Isa Cultural Center celebrated the twelfth anniversary of the American Corner in Bahrain’s National Library. U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Margret Nardi and Executive Director of the Isa Cultural Center, Dr. Shaikh Khalid Al-Khalifa, renewed the MOU that established the American Corner and highlighted the importance of the American Corner in increasing Bahrainis’ understanding of American history, society, and culture.

During the ceremony, CDA Nardi stated, “I am pleased that our partnership with Isa Cultural Center has been going on for twelve years during which many US Embassy cultural programs and English language programs were hosted at the American Corner. We value our partnership we are pleased that the American Corner has been successful in attracting visitors and sponsoring programs for Bahrainis of all ages.”

In the past years, the Isa Cultural Center-U.S. Embassy partnership has supported high profile events like art exhibits and lectures, as well as English language workshops, professional seminars, and other activities.

The American Corner as added over 2,000 English language books to the National Library’s collection, along with children’s books in Arabic and English, access to research databases, periodical subscriptions, videos, internet stations, and two video-viewing stations.
