On May 12th, a local English-language teacher presented a workshop on using literature for young adults in the English as a Foreign Language classroom. The workshop was organized by the U.S. Embassy in partnership with the American Corner at the Isa Cultural Center. The presenter explored themes and activities offered in a publication of the U.S. Department of State: American Themes: An Anthology of Young Adult Literature. In this segment of the workshop, the presenter uses a story and cartoons from the anthology to engage the audience. The story: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, authored by Sherman Alexie, a native American Indian, was one of the featured readings in the workshop.
