Student Leader Exchange Program

group shotOn June 15th, Ambassador William V. Roebuck and Public Affairs Officer Brad Niemann met with 8 Bahraini students participating in a Student Leaders Exchange program.  The program will take place in various U.S. host institutions, from June 29 to August 7, 2015.

During the pre-departure orientation, the students were encouraged to be proactive in the program, learn as much as possible about U.S. culture and society and engage with their American peers.  Alumni from the 2014 program and Public Affairs staff shared their first-hand experience of university campus life in the U.S. with the outgoing 2015 participants.

The Student Leaders program is a fully-funded, six-week, intensive leadership training program in the U.S. for undergraduate students.  Participants develop leadership and collective problem-solving skills, exploring U.S. history and culture to expand their leadership skills and knowledge.  The program also includes hands-on leadership training workshops, academic sessions, site visits, community service projects, optional homestays to interact with American peers, and other cultural activities.  The partnering U.S. host institutions are Georgetown University, University of Delaware, Montana State University, Benedictine University, Roger Williams University and Portland State University.
