
On Wednesday, February 24th, IVLP Alumna Hoda Sangoor, CEO of Venus International, held the first of a series of seminars on entrepreneurship. This seminar focused on the challenges that young entrepreneurs face in Bahrain. Academics, MPs, and business leaders attended the discussion. The session was led by three speakers: Dr. Ghassan Aouda, President of the Applied Science University; Dr. Jameela Al Mahrai, Assistant Professor at the University of Bahrain; and Zahra Baqer, CEO of Zari International Consultancy Center. PAO Tom Tanner represented the embassy at the event.
Ms. Sangoor won a grant from the U.S. Department of State’s Alumni Office to engage with alumni who have a connection to entrepreneurship and economic development. The series of events, or “salons,” will be an opportunity to for alumni are interested in starting their own businesses or pursing social entrepreneurship ideas to find experienced mentors and to network with one another.
