Engineering Summer Camp

 

What are you doing this summer?

If you are Bahraini, currently enrolled in 9th – 11th grades, and you like math and science, then you should consider applying to participate in the Engineering Summer Camp at Michigan Technological University (MTU) in Houghton, Michigan, USA.  Boys and girls from all around the United States and the world will learn about 15 different fields of engineering through interesting, hands-on activities.  The U.S. Embassy in Bahrain will provided scholarships for a limited number of students to participate.

There are a few options to choose from:

  • The Women in Automotive Engineering program (open only to girls) is scheduled for June 16-22, 2019;
  • The Women in Computer Science (open only to girls) is scheduled for June 23-29, 2019;
  • The Engineering Scholars program (open to boys and girls) is scheduled July 21-27, 2019; and
  • The Women in Engineering program (open only to girls) is scheduled for July 28-August 3, 2019.

How to Apply:

If you are interested, please send to ManamaPAO@state.gov no later than February 26, 2019, the following items:

Copy of your passport

Your high school transcript

Letter of recommendation from one of your teachers

A one-paragraph essay about why you would like to go to the camp

Strong candidates need to have good English skills and be responsible, open-minded students with an interest in math and science.  The Embassy will select finalists and reach out to them with further details and to conduct an interview.
