Engineering Summer Camp


What are you planning this summer?

If you are a Bahraini boy or girl currently enrolled in 9th – 11th grades, and you like math and science, then you should consider applying to participate in an Engineering Summer Camp at Michigan Technological University (MTU) in Houghton, Michigan.  Boys and girls from all around the United States and various countries around the world will learn about 15 different fields of engineering, through interesting, hands-on activities.  The U.S. Embassy in Bahrain will provided scholarships for a limited number of students to participate. The Women in Engineering program (a program specific for girls) is scheduled for July 29-Augsut 4, 2018, Women in Automotive Engineering program is scheduled for July 15-21, 2018,  and the Engineering Scholars program (open to boys and girls) and Women in Computer Science (a program specific for girls) are scheduled for July 22-28, 2018.  If you would like more information about the program, you can visit MTU’s web site at:   https://www.syp.mtu.edu/

How to Apply:

If you are interested, please send to ManamaPAO@state.gov no later than March 25, 2018, the following items:

  • Copy of your passport
  • Your high school transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from one of your teachers
  • A one-paragraph, brief essay about why you would like to go to the camp
  • Fill out the application form for the program you would like to go on:





Strong candidates need to have good English skills and be responsible, open-minded students with an interest in math and science.  The Embassy will select finalists and reach out to them with further details. Finalists will be contacted for a phone interview.
