Apply for the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa by April 3, 2019
The International Writing Program at the University of Iowa (IWP) provides a unique intercultural experience for established writers who have achieved literary distinction in their own country and for rising stars who have demonstrated literary talent, broad appeal and interest in contributing to the creative writing culture in their home countries. The University of Iowa plans to host the Residency from September 1 to November 17, 2019 (dates may still be subject to adjustments). The focus of the program is to examine current trends in literature (including fiction, drama, poetry and screen writing) in the U.S. and worldwide and to explore the creative process involved in writing. Participants will have a chance to develop their writing skills, share knowledge and techniques, and work with translators to help their countries’ literary works reach a wider audience.
Applicant must be Bahraini
Poets, writers, fiction writers, dramatists, bloggers, screenwriters and literary translators are eligible for the program
Proficiency in English
Interested in close interaction with other writers from a multiplicity of diverse countries and cultures
Applicant submit the following information via email to ManamaPAO@state.gov by Wednesday, April 3, 2019:
- a literary-focused curriculum vitae (CV) and 2) a 10-15 page writing sample in English (or an English translation of a sample of the writer’s works. The work must have appeared in significant publications or attracted audiences over a period of at least two years.)
