From November 27 to December 1, American Street Photographer Mr. Rinzi Ruiz visited Bahrain as part of “The Nest” arts festival organized by Al Riwaq gallery. As part of the festival, Mr. Rinzi offered a photography workshop, “Zen Street – A Walking Meditation.” In this workshops, Mr. Ruiz offered practical techniques for taking photographs and also shared his journey in the street photography world. In an outdoor reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Manama at the “Kitchen at the Nest,” Deputy Chief of Mission Aimee Cutrona praised Al Riwaq founder Bayan Kanoo for developing the Nest and supporting Mr. Ruiz. She also thanked Mr. Ruiz for participating in the program.
During his visit, Mr. Ruiz visited schools and universities, and conducted photography walks with amateur street photographers in Manama Souq, Muharraq Souq, and the fishing harbor. Mr. Ruiz also had the opportunity to meet one of Bahrain’s renowned photographers, Mr. Abdulla Al Khan, who shared his photography career and samples of his work with Mr. Ruiz. Mr. Ruiz attended an opening of an exhibition of his work at Ras Ruman Cultural Center, which was attended by local photographers and the Ras Ruman Cultural Center management team.
