On February 26th, Ambassador William Roebuck attended the first Draft Event for the new Jr. NBA Basketball league at Zain Basketball Arena. Ambassador Roebuck stressed the Embassy’s support for the program and the benefits to young Bahranis of developing mental and physical wellness through playing basketball. The Jr. NBA Basketball League is the first collaboration ever between the Manama Club in Bahrain and Global Coach International in the United States. At the event, 30 new coaches were called to draw a NBA team that they will represent during the season. Each coach will work with ten boys between the ages of 12-15. Over 200 locals attended the event, which also included local hip hop entertainment by DJ Outlaw and Flipperachi (former basketball player).
