U.S. Ambassador William V. Roebuck hosted educators and students from the United States and Bahrain for a reception at the Ambassador’s residence on March 1, 2015. The Ambassador, who himself taught English earlier in his career before becoming a U.S. diplomat, began the event with remarks on the importance of learning foreign languages and praised the guests for their dedication to their professions and to the study of the English language. The guests in attendance were participants in exchange programs sponsored by the U.S. Embassy that focus on English-language teaching and learning. They represent programs that are implemented by the Regional English Language Office: the English Language Specialist Program; English Language Fellow Program; English Access Micro-scholarship Program; E-Teacher Scholarship Program; and the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program. In total, forty-five guests were present at the event.
